1

Planning and estimation

A test plan describes objectives, scope, assumptions, resources, schedule, communication, risks, and completion criteria. Estimation may use ratios, extrapolation, expert judgment, or three-point estimates. Prioritization should account for risk, dependencies, and business value.

Remember: A plan connects limited testing capacity to the decisions stakeholders need to make.
2

Risk-based testing

Product risk combines the likelihood of a quality problem with its impact. Risk analysis identifies and assesses risks; risk control selects mitigation and monitors change. Higher risks normally receive earlier, deeper, or more independent coverage.

Remember: Risk helps decide where testing effort creates the most value.
3

Monitoring and defect communication

Useful measures show progress, coverage, product quality, defect status, and remaining risk. Test control responds to those observations. A strong defect report is clear, reproducible, evidence-backed, appropriately classified, and connected to expected versus actual behavior.

Remember: Metrics and reports should help someone decide or act.

These original questions reinforce the lesson. They are not official ISTQB exam questions.

1. Product risk is commonly evaluated using which two factors?
2. Which item is most useful in a defect report?
3. What is test control?
